The expats site Expatica has a poll in the France section where visitors can vote for French présidentiables. I assume most of the visitors are expats-- maybe I'm wrong-- because people who don't live here don't usually know much about French politics. Even though I have often noticed that expats' political differences seem to disappear when it comes to French politicians, I was still surprised at how overwhelming the vote was for Sarko (although it's true that no one knows who the voters are).
Today there are photos on a lot of bus stops of the cover of the Courrier International, a weekly that translates journalism from around the world: this week the main feature is a New Yorker article on Dominique de Villepin and Nicolas Sarkozy, entitled "Préférez-vous un mauvais poète ou un faux Américain?" [Do you prefer a bad poet or a fake American?]
The French verb vilipender means to malign someone. A sarcome is a tumeur maligne.

as another expat in france, i gotta CRY and feel unambiguous SHAME for my fellow expat compatriots in france who voted for sarcome (i love your monikers for him and vile pin). HAVE THEY LOST THEIR FREAKIN MINDS????!! i cringe every time i see sarko in the news. because even though his HORNS are hidden whenever i see him on tv, he still looks like PURE EVIL.
