This time it had nothing to do with the TSA (Transport Security Administration, I believe). The airplane I was supposed to be on for my third leg of the day had engine trouble and after making us wait around for several hours, they canceled the flight and sent us all off with vouchers for hotels and food. Unfortunately the hotel was a real dive and the food unavailable: all the restaurants had closed while we were waiting at the gate, and the flight we were rebooked on leaves so early that they have not yet reopened. "And I'd get there two hours early if I were you!" said the agent as we sleepily headed for the bus.
Of course, no one had any clothes, water or food with them. The airline gave us toothpaste.
omg... how worse can a trip be?! so much for traveling these days...

I sympathize, on our way back from Paris, we got stranded in Chicago one time. My husband and I tend to be very low-key, undemanding sorts, but we'd had a lot of trouble with flights in both directions. That's when we discovered that those who are major pains are taken care of. After my hubby ranted at the woman who was taking care of us, we ended up at a much nicer place than some of the other folks I overheard. We won't discuss the whole "Wait 2 hours at baggage claim to get your luggage back" thing now, though. The poor kid running the luggage area was faced with a flight full of people ready to tar and feather, and had to deal with all of us for two hours.
Here's hoping that your flight finally settles in and you get back safely!
