Tonight the Christmas lights are lit on the Champs-Élysées. It's my favorite time of year.
Here is a site where you can find out what is happening at Christmastime in Paris. I love the new tradition of the patinoire [ice-skating rink] at the Hôtel de Ville, which is free if you bring your own skates (and here for once I am not being sarcastic when I thank the mayor), and open till midnight on Friday and Saturday. You are supposed to wear gloves.
Inside the Eiffel Tower, there will be a "magical labyrinth," including actors and a forest. There will be the big Ferris wheel at Concorde, and merry-go-rounds around the city will give free rides to children.
Does anyone know why yet another huge tent is going up at Trocadero today?
Interesting photos!
I realize that you took the 24 KB picture of the Christmas lights on the Champs-Élysées off the http://en.parisinfo.com website. I am wondering if you had a comparable picture that was a little bit larger is size.
Thanks!

I'm sorry-- I looked for a bigger one, too! Maybe I'll go down there and take one myself.

If you do, it would be wonderful to see your photo!
You have often posted about Germany. Have you been to Bavaria during the Advent or Christmas season?

I lived in Munich for two years and loved it. I still miss it.

Sedulia wrote, "I lived in Munich for two years...."
(That must have contributed to your fluency in German. You speak 6 languages! Great Scott! Dutch, French, German, Italian, English, & ???)
The reason why I was asking about Bavaria was because I was curious about Advent / Christmas decorations there.

Does anyone know when ( Date) they light the Champs-Elysees for the Christmas season?
