As we landed in Dallas, the flight attendant thanked us for flying the airline, and then said, "And I'd like to extend a special word of appreciation to our troops on this flight. Thank you for fighting in Iraq to keep us all free and safe at home. Remember, the land of the free because of the brave."
I'm afraid the cliché is not so new by now. Thanks to people generally listed in your other thread about the election as "did not serve", it has been hammered time and again so much that this cliché will last forever.
Just as i am posting, i can hear the sirens exercice above Paris (1st wednesday of the month). If Limbaugh or someone of his genre knew it, no doubt he would call it a surrender training, and that the laughter tapes would roar. This is unfortunately l'état des choses.
Thanks for your blog!
