On the boulevard Saint-Germain today,
I stopped to look in the window of the store Kartell, which specializes in very chic Italian plastic furniture.
I own a cleverly designed transparent stepladder of theirs that takes up hardly any space and can stand up straight against a wall. This time I was struck by some garden dwarves just like these gold ones, but bright red.
Two women in their fifties were window-shopping next to me.
"All the furniture is plastic these days," said one.
"And people are becoming more and more plastic too," said the other.
Plastic furniture is getting better and better these days. Best thing is the plastic furniture does not really look like plastic. So one can use it without feeling that one is using something substandard.
