One of the candidates for the présidentielles in 2012 is Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who has just written a book called Qu'ils s'en aillent tous! or "Let them all leave!" In it he says that if he becomes president, he will establish a maximum income of €350,000 a year. "What will we do with those who make more than that? It's very simple: we'll take it all!" he writes.
It's ironic, then, that some of France's most famous and profitable businesses cater to the wealthiest people in the world. I guess Hermès and Chanel can always keep selling to rich foreigners.
